For the Route 1 Advocacy animation, I would like to create a hand-drawn series of sketches to give a "storybook" approach to the video which for me, would feel appropriate when looking at the topic of the video, which is help and support for children in care, in the form of welcoming and positive company.

Inspirations

I want to structure the animation in a very simple fashion which will clearly and effectively portray and represent the work that is done by Route 1. I will take an ornamented stickman approach, not too disimilar from the art style of YouTube channels like 'Psych2Go' and 'TheOdd1sOut'.

With these ideas for character designs, I will create a character, neutral in appearance which will have an inviting and friendly design that makes the audience feel listened to and understood, as well as trusted and related to by the soft-looking, simplistic and charming individual. Such characters are by appearance, neither male nor female, old or young or in any way tucked away in a community. They are blank, plain and harmless, which is exactly what I intended for the animated figures for the video.

The Plot

I would like to structure the advert into five separate segments, these would be as follows;

- Highlighting the struggle for children in care

- The importance of a young person having a voice

- Explaining what an advocate could do

- How "you" can help

- Highlighting the difference that you can make

Method of Animation

The animation will be composed by taking high-quality photographs of live-drawings that I have made, then converting them into PDF images using Adobe Scan. I will then string the images together in a video-editing software, most likely Premiere Pro or iMovie. I will make two separate drawings for each scene to give the images a "motion" effect, similar to that of the YouTube Channel I have previously mentioned, known as 'Psych2Go'.

Above: A video from 'Pysch2Go', which showcases the animation style that I am hoping to imitate, more specifically the "motion" effect.
