'The War of the Worlds' (Short Film Research)

In the 1953 film 'The War of the Worlds' (a film adaptation of a novel of the same name by H.G. Wells) there are special effects which are considered to be primitive by today's standards, but were groundbreaking in 1953. The special effects with regards to stroboscopic lights imitating laser beams and death rays, inspired me to look into lights of a similar fashion appearing outside the house during moments in the film. The lights would be seen from the inside of the house, as the film takes place inside one building.

The flashing lights would add to the atmosphere and create the apocalyptic look that we are going for as a team. I would want it to appear as though the outside world was a distressed environment with some sort of warfare or invasion taking place, hence the research done and inspiration taken from this particular adaptation of 'The War of the Worlds'.
