When looking at "Found Footage" horror films, one film stands out to me and offers a take on this genre of film which I see as resonant with the style of film that myself and my team are hoping to make. The film in question, is a short film which is from YouTube rather than terrestrial television, titled 'No Through Road', an amateur horror film made in January of 2009.
No Through Road was for a long time, believed to be a real found-footage tape which documented the demise of four teenage-boys from Stevenage, Hertfordshire, with the film beginning in such a way, that presents it as an informative video, released with the intention of helping solve the disappearance and presumed murder of the four boys who feature in the video. The authenticity and home-made style of this video is what made it so believable, which has inspired me to do something similar without short film.
The shaky camerawork, corrupted recording and impressive use of special and practical effects for its time, make this short film a fantastic of example of an amateur "found footage style" short film, with many most likely taking inspiration from this production, with myself included.
